Welcome to the appointment and services page of Lighthouse Pediatrics! This page contains information outlining some of the many services at the office as well as Lighthouse Pediatrics standard appointment practices.
Asthma is the leading cause of chronic illness in children. It affects more than one of every 10 children in the U.S., and, for unknown reasons, it is steadily increasing. It can begin at any age, but most children have their first symptoms by age 5.
At Lighthouse Pediatrics, we assist our families in identifying the source of asthma attacks and respiratory illnesses by first assessing family history, then administering a physical exam, and finally running certain tests to confirm any suspicions.
The term eczema refers to a number of different skin conditions in which the skin is red and irritated and occasionally results in small, fluid-filled bumps that become moist and ooze. The most common cause of eczema is atopic dermatitis, sometimes called infantile eczema although it occurs in infants and older children.
If your child has skin irritations that are bothering you, bring them in and Dr. Luz will help diagnose the irritations so that your child can return to a healthy and happy state!
While specific requirements vary by school, camp or sports association, routine camp, school and sports physicals are an opportunity for healthcare providers to discuss important health issues with children and their guardians. Physicals can help ensure that the individual is healthy and physically prepared to join in activities. During the exam, Dr. Luz will review the individual’s complete health history and ensure that he or she is up-to-date with current immunization recommendations for their age.
Lighthouse Pediatrics welcomes same day appointments as well as walk-ins.
Circumcision is a surgical procedure to remove the skin covering the end of the penis, called the foreskin.
Lighthouse Pediatrics offers Nutritional Counseling to assist families in growing and maintaining a healthy and beneficial lifestyle. During a nutritional consultation, Dr. Luz might collect relevant information pertaining to: medical history, medication/supplement use, diet history, behavior patterns, and feeding issues.
Basic nutrition education is provided and a meal plan may be designed, if indicated. Nutrition/health goals will be made together that are specific, realistic and achievable.
To avoid long wait times, we prefer scheduled visits. If you are more than 30 minutes late for your appointment, we will try our best to work you in!
Dr. Luz takes emergency calls after hours, weekends and holidays. If your child becomes ill after office hours and cannot wait until the next morning, call the office at 904-342-7648 and the phone will forward to Dr Luz.
If you’re unable to keep your appointment, please call to reschedule. If you’re running late, notify the office, so we can change your appointment time.
For the safety of your child, Lighthouse Pediatrics will not prescribe new medications without first being seen by Dr. Luz in the office.
Requests for prescription refills can be handled only during routine office hours.
